“Grace and gratitude belong together like heaven and earth. Grace evokes gratitude like the voice an echo. Gratitude follows grace as thunder follows lightning.” Karl Barth
The poet of Ecclesiastes, probably Solomon, wrote “time and chance happeneth to them all” from a horizontal, perhaps even fatalistic perspective (due to his current state in life), but from a vertical perspective, this could mean that God gives man ‘time after time’ and ‘chance after chance’ to find and get to know Him, by His incredible Love and Grace, for “He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (just like the author of this verse, the Apostle Peter, did, after he betrayed the LORD Jesus during the Master’s ‘trial’). “God, when I ‘want it all,’ help me to discern what is Best, and receive that instead!” Ibid.
“‘Give and it shall be given unto you’ has nothing to do with money, but has everything to do with mercy.” The LORD Jesus to Pastor/Prophet/Apostle, Mark Morgan (reference Scripture is Luke 6:38). I struggled with this, as I’ve always believed that it was referring to financial giving (exclusively), but I now I believe it’s more focused upon giving and receiving mercy…as proof-positive, all one has to do is to simply read the preceding verse, Luke 6:37, and then verses 41 and 42!
