Effective Prayer

5/10/11- “Using the Word in prayer is not taking it out of context, for His Word in us is the key to answered prayer—to prayer that brings results. He is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, according to ‘the power’ that works in us” (Eph. 3:20). ‘The power’ lies within God’s Word. It is anointed by the Word, for the Word is of the Spirit of God. We apply that Word personally to ourselves and to others—not adding to or taking from it—in the Name of Jesus. We apply the Word to the now—to those things, circumstances and situations facing each of us now.” Germaine Copeland, in her book ‘Prayers that avail much for the Workplace’, pages 22 and 23 (italics and quotes added by Denny, along with the following commentary: Just as one should not be able to ‘separate a man from his word’ neither can you separate God from His. The Bible is God’s Word but Jesus Christ is the God behind and in and through the Word of God. He is, in fact, the Ultimate Word of God, or the ‘Expression of God’ so to claim to know Jesus and not know His Word is error, indeed! Yet to know His Word, or Truth, without knowing Him, the God of Love Who Authored the Truth, is also gross error. “Jesus help us to know You and/through Your Word, for they are inseparable!”)
